After spending a few hours training in downtown Portland with other "Street Flow Runners", Michael Kanakan and his friends start in on a round of gaming. The video game avatars can jump off buildings, ledges, and do flips in mid-air, but these virtual skills are not unlike what Michael and the other "Street Flow Runners" are capable of. They are a parkour/free-running team, who take time weekly to practice their tricks and skills on playgrounds, buildings, parks, and any obstacle around the city. The sport of parkour involves the philosophy of moving from point A to point B as efficiently as possible, allowing no barriers to be an unsurpassable obstacle. These athletes known as "traceurs" use only their own body and momentum to leap over walls and jump from building to building. Parkour also includes free running, which allows the traceurs to incorporate flips and tricks into their method of travel. Mike, known as Set to his free-running team, has been concentrating on improving his skills so he can become sponsored like another one of his teammates Jesse has. Jesse and Mike co-founded the Street Flow Runners and continue to bond over the sport, but Mike has found himself having to push harder to keep up with Jesse's natural abilities. Using inspiration from anime characters and professional traceurs, Mike continues to train so he can reach an ideal level of skill.
