Dana Rice has lived in the coastal Maine town of Gouldsboro all his life. He manages a lobster buying and bait business and leads town meetings as head selectman. Lately, he spends a lot of time worrying about the future of his coastal community as the last sardine cannery in the U.S., and the major employer in the area, closed its doors in April, leaving over a 100 people without jobs. As the final chapter of an industry over a century old comes to a close, Dana reflects on what is being lost as he struggles to figure out what will come next.
