{Student Life}

Salt really is a 24/7 experience for the 15 weeks that you are here. Prior to coming, we want you to know a little bit more about what to expect.

To find out more about housing that Salt provides, and other ways that we help our accepted students find great places to live in Portland, check out photos and information about Salt’s student residence. Just a 3 minute walk to Salt, we’re super excited to offer some great apartment living in town. Private bedrooms, common rooms with flat screen televisions, cable and password protected wifi are just a few of the amenities we offer.

When you’re not at Salt or not doing some kind of work related to your Salt projects, you’ll want to make the most of your down-time here in Portland. We’ve started a growing list of some of our favorite places to eat, things to see/do and shops to visit. Believe us when we tell you this is just scratching the surface of what our awesome city has to offer. We’ll be adding to this occasionally, so check back as often as you like to refresh your memory or find out about our newest favorite spots.

One of the most common questions we are asked is to describe what a typical semester is like. You can follow students from any one of our tracks (writing, radio, photography and/or multimedia) as they describe, in their own words, their unique Salt experience. We’ve asked them to share a weekly diary entry as one of the best ways we could think of to intimately describe the program.
