“Live aboards” can be found up and down both coasts, but most people haven’t ever heard of them, or are unfamiliar with the term. Live aboards are just what they sound like – people who occupy their boats all year long. In other words, they live aboard their vessels. The lifestyle is not for everyone. Living on a boat requires a person to embrace a simpler lifestyle, forego some conveniences most would deem as necessary, all the while accepting the ongoing responsibility of maintaining a boat. Yet living aboard also yields rich rewards for those who take it on: a close-knit community, the ability to travel, and a home on the water.
