The worst game of hide and seek is being played out in Africa’s urban slums. Living in the shadows are the newest faces of the world’s changing refugee crisis: urban and alone. Over half of Africa’s 2.5 million refugees are now living in cities – only a third are in camps. Children and young women are especially in danger – hidden in plain sight amidst deplorable conditions, many are orphaned or separated from their parents. Girls as young as seven…

Join us in Congress Square August 17-22 for Photoville ME : Portland’s first outdoor art exhibit held entirely in a 20×8′ shipping container.   Salt traveled to Photoville in Brooklyn last year, and were one of dozens of organizations, schools and artists to create displays in shipping containers in NYC’s Brooklyn Bridge Park. Lost and Found Montana: Photographs by Jeremy Lurgio

In 2000, the Montana Department of Transportation’s new highway map sealed the fate of 18 towns: nine communities would remain, nine would disappear. Photographer and multimedia producer Jeremy Lurgio traveled more than 7,000 miles across Montana to photograph and report the stories of those towns and the people in them. “Lost & Found Montana” documents the story of the 18 towns using words, photographs, video and audio.   For more about the project, visit its website.
