In 1981, the nation was hit with what would become the worst pandemic in our history.   As fear, discrimination, and stigma gripped families and individuals facing tragedy, an unlikely hero emerged in Maine determined to change the way people dealt with the disease.  Frannie Peabody dedicated herself to helping others, and in the process, taught us how to care for each other.  Her efforts, and those of the organizations she supported, shaped Maine’s approach to AIDS by means of compassion…
